Nesting Threads Pulsing Veins (2022) installation view

Nesting Threads Pulsing Veins is a call for action as great as magic. It is a dimensional drawing constructed from collected and transformed materials. Vertical orientations project spirituality onto the objects. This elevates their connection to the spirit realms above and below, linking different planes of time and functioning as portals to pass through. Combining natural and synthetic materials also relays elements of this reality, grounding witnesses in the Anthropocene. The drawing offers an opportunity to address this post-apocalyptic present with a sense of wonder, visualizing desires for escapism and hopeful dreaming.

Materials include: worn silk clothing, jute rope and cotton twine from the kitchen drawer dyed with Phytolacca americana and Tagetes from the garden, acrylic, disposable food cooler bag, nylon yarn, beeswax, found wood, plaster, found iron and steel, concrete and stone from construction sites, glazed ceramic, and sponge
